New Angus Recruits sought for Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Angus Open Unit want to hear from young people interested in achieving a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.

The Angus Open Unit was one of a few local groups that were able to head into the hills on expedition this year thanks to additional Covid-19 measures being put in place and an easing of restrictions.

Having reached the summit of that module, the Open Unit want to recruit more young people (aged 14 to 25 years old) at all levels of the Award.

The benefits of participating in and achieving a Duke of Edinburgh Award are well-documented. It’s great fun, offers the chance to meet people from all backgrounds and make lasting friendships, enjoy new experiences and gain life skills that employers value. The DofE Award helps young people to become more confident, independent people and along the way gather memories that will last a lifetime.

Any young people (aged 14-25) who want to participate in the DofE Award experience can go to the Community Wing in Arbroath Academy on a Wednesday between 6.30pm and 8.00pm for further information or to join up for an Award. Alternatively, contact Unit Coordinator Rikki Beattie on 01241 464628.

The Open Unit is not a school unit so is open to all young people in Angus or further afield.
