Keep Fit with ANGUSalive

Helping Angus keep fit in Lockdown

ANGUSalive has launched its very own fitness app to help residents of Angus keep fit while in lockdown.

Sports Centres throughout Angus have been closed since Christmas Eve due to restrictions, but all residents and members will be able to take part from the comfort of their very own home with live stream and on demand classes to help keep healthy, active and creative.

Live classes kick off on Monday 25 January 2021 with local ANGUSalive instructor Jade Young teaching a Body Combat class. There will be a range of classes for every level of fitness, even the whole family can get involved.

Jade told us: “Myself and the other instructors are looking forward to reconnecting with our members and anyone new who would like to try out a class! Exercise is so important for our physical and mental health and to be able to deliver all the benefits of exercise again is a great feeling. Expect high energy, terrible jokes, possibly some bad dancing and a great workout. Classes are a great chance to escape the crazy world we live in at the moment.”

Other live streamed classes will include Gentle Aerobics, PIYO, High Intensity Interval Training and Indoor Group Cycling to name just a few. The full timetable of activities can be found in the Live Streaming section of the app. There are a selection of workouts already loaded and ready to go in the On Demand section, including Core Stability and a HIIT Workout, which are currently free of charge to all users and some of the livestream workouts will also be made available.

Lynne Haxton, ANGUSalive Adult and Community Physical Activity Lead, explains more: “We have been working to develop an app for some time in order for us to help people access fitness sessions from home. We’re delighted we have managed to get this launched in January especially when there is the ‘Stay at Home’ message and people may be looking for ways to keep fit and healthy from home. We hope people will enjoy the classes and perhaps will join us when we reopen in our sites or stay working out with us via the ANGUSalive app.”

When restrictions allow Sport & Leisure facilities in Angus to reopen their doors, the app will enable members to check timetables, book fitness classes, gym or swim sessions, add themselves to a waiting list and cancel classes at the touch of a button.

Access to Live Streaming and On Demand classes within the ANGUSalive app will be free for everyone as part of a trial period and to at least the end of February 2021. It is hoped that people will enjoy using this service and provide ANGUSalive with valuable feedback as part of the trial period. The ANGUSalive app can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.
