Angus Council wish safe and happy holidays to Angus pupils

With schools across Angus closing today (Thursday 24 June) for the summer holidays, Angus Council’s Children and Learning Convener, Cllr Derek Wann is sending an end of term message to pupils, parents, carers and staff.

“I would like to wish all the pupils who are finishing school today the best of luck in the coming weeks and months, whether they are leaving school to move into training, further education, employment or returning to school in August to continue their studies.

“This last year has been a difficult time for children as they adapted to learning in a different way whether that was while at school or when learning from home. Being at school has meant following different rules to meet health, safety and hygiene measures in place including social distancing from their friends and wearing face coverings.

“Pupils sitting exams changed to the new Alternative Certification Model (ACM), meaning they’ll have already received their provisional results and many may be considering their options over the summer.

“In all these challenging circumstances, pupils have been fantastic and should be proud of themselves!

“I would also like to thank the parents and carers for their help in ensuring that our children and young people kept on track with their learning.

“Finally, I would like to thank all of our staff and the partners we work closely with to support our children and young people. Your commitment to getting it right has been outstanding.

“With Covid-19 still very much with us, we can all play a part in making sure we continue on the recovery by following the guidance. I wish you all a safe and happy summer break and look forward to welcoming pupils back in August.”

There is help and support available to pupils who have received their provisional results to understand their choices. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) results support has been adapted to provide support from mid-June. The SDS helpline number is 0800 917 8000, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm until 9 August to discuss provisional results.
