All seven of Angus Council’s recycling centres will open to the public from Wednesday 1 July.
New arrangements will be in place and certain restrictions must remain so all recycling centres can operate in line with national guidelines and advice, as Scotland navigates its route map through the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to recovery.
Arrangements are driven by the availability of staff and resources, as well as the size of, and accessibility to, each recycling centre. This is to protect council staff, people attending at the centres and the wider Angus community.
An online booking system will operate for recycling centres at Brechin, Carnoustie, Kirriemuir and Monifieth where only cars and small vans will be permitted and the full range of materials, except for non-recyclable (general) waste, will be accepted.
Large vans and trailers will be accepted at Arbroath, Forfar and Montrose. This too will be managed by an online booking system.
The online booking system will be available to use on the Angus Council website from Thursday 25 June.
Please take note – Necessary arrangements have been put in place to take account of each recycling centre’s circumstances. Check out how they apply to your local recycling centre via our website (www.angus.gov.uk/recyclingcentresand follow the guidance.
When you are at our centres, please be kind to our staff. They are working very hard through difficult times and welcome your support.
Where people can still recycle at home, please do. Demand at recycling centres will be high. We expect them to be extremely busy with both people and traffic – so if you can wait until a more normal service resumes, please do.
Arrangements for Angus recycling centres from 1 July are as follows –
Arbroath, Forfar and Montrose
Open 9.15am to 5pm every day, except Wednesday when open from 9.15am to 7pm.
A full range of materials will be accepted at these centres. See Angus Council’s website for full details (www.angus.gov.uk/recyclingcentres).
Traffic management plans put in place from 1 June will continue to operate. This includes signage advising on queue limits (the point where cars cannot queue beyond and people should return at another time).
Large vans and trailers will be accepted at these three recycling centres but only via an online booking system. Commercial customers, using a pre-paid voucher system, will also be accepted. Further details can be found at www.angus.gov.uk/recyclingcentres
Brechin, Carnoustie, Kirriemuir and Monifieth
From 1 July these four recycling centres will open on the same days and during the same hours as they normally operate outside of lockdown – see the Council’s website for local details.
As per pre-lockdown, this means centres at Brechin and Kirriemuir are closed on Mondays and Fridays; at Carnoustie on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and at Monifieth on Wednesdays (inc. 1 July) and Fridays.
A full range of materials will be accepted, except for non-recyclable (general) waste. This includes Monifieth, which has operated other temporary arrangements during June.
Due to finite staffing and traffic management restrictions, an online booking system will be in place for these four recycling centres. Customers will be able to visit the Angus Council website www.angus.gov.uk/recyclingcentres and make a booking up to one week before they intend to visit one of these centres.
On attending at any of the seven recycling centres, we still ask that only one person exits a vehicle to dispose of items unless it is absolutely necessary for a second person to assist with lifting and handling. Council staff cannot assist with lifting and handling due to physical distancing requirements.
All residents can go to www.angus.gov.uk/recyclingcentres for more details about the service, including updates during the COVID-19 pandemic response
